  8. Hi, folks. The latest hotfix (r1330) is in the first post. Changes are as follows: *Added handling to GP import so that if any of the GP file's tracks has 7 strings, EOF will allow you to choose whether the high or the low string is dropped. *Improved the "Reset BPM" function so that it will offer to auto adjust any existing notes so that affected notes will remain grid snapped after the operation is completed. *Fixed a bug where tech view could become disabled when the MIDI file was created during save.

  9. Hi, folks. I'll be using this thread to maintain the latest versions of EOF in one place. To start, download and extract EOF 1.8RC12: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ih70h6p67iy77ka/eof1.8RC12.zip You can keep that zip file handy to avoid downloading it more than once. When I release a new hotfix, all you have to do is replace the files from the above zip file with the ones from the hotfix. The latest hotfix (9-26-2020) is here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/6xzg32k4a9gqwxs/eof_hotfix_%289-26-2020_4%29.zip/file *If you use a non QWERTY US English keyboard layout, and keyboard controls/shortcuts aren't working for you, please make a post describing what keyboard shortcuts aren't working, and what the Info panel says the "CODE" and "ASCII" values are after you use each of the keyboard controls in question. I can make Mac releases and will try to post one with each Windows release, but my ability to do so is sometimes limited. If I don't get around to releasing a Mac build you want, just remind me to do so. The latest Mac build (9-26-2020) is here: http://ignition.customsforge.com/eof/download/487 Unless you have oggenc and LAME installed (these don't come with the Mac build for licensing reasons), you won't be able to have EOF automatically convert from MP3 to OGG when you create a new chart. If you have trouble getting those set up on your system, here is a package that should get them installed and usable by EOF: http://www.t3-i.com/apps/eof/downloads/eof_utilities.pkg Please provide any and all feedback, including bugs and feature requests. If possible, also please review the included documentation (manual, tutorials) and let me know if you find any room for improvement there. Eventually I plan to add a Rocksmith authoring section to the pro guitar tutorial, but the community's knowledge of the Rocksmith songs' makeup changes pretty quickly so it's hard to know when particular features are considered fully known. For any features that ARE fully known (like anchors), please feel free to remind me if they aren't incorporated into EOF yet, in case I missed any information being passed around on this forum or the Google group. Note: If you are reporting a bug, please specify which hotfix (date) you're using. I release hotfixes on a somewhat random schedule, sometimes more than once per day, so the issue being reported may have been fixed in a release you haven't tried yet.

  10. Today I found a workaround for getting the low bass notes such as low B to work with Rocksmith. I posted a scrappy test song in the database but they already pulled the plug on that, can't say I blame them :). But I got enough data for it to work as a proof of concept, you can see the discussions we had here. Me and a couple of people got a low B note, the thickest string on a 5-string bass to register in Rocksmith. My theory was that the reason Rocksmith hits the wall at C1 is because after that you go into the zeroes, B0 is next. I thought it must be because Rocksmith doesn't like handling those zeroes in there. So could Rocksmith be tricked into thinking it is still in the 1st octave while in reality it's playing the notes that are of the 0th octave? This brings us to the workaround. First off, you fiddle with the tuning in Editor of Fire. There you set the tuning to whatever is your desired tuning +6. (This is now pretty much obsolete, it's better to set it to +12, see the edits) In my test, I wanted the tuning to be in BEAD, the 4 lowest strings on a 5-string bass, so I set the tunings to 1,1,1,1. Because the B-string would be -5 compared to the standard 4-string E-string, I get -5+6=1, and so forth. Then you just chart the song as it is played in the desired tuning. If you have a chart like that already, just change the tuning accordingly and don't transpose the notes. Next, in the Rocksmith toolkit you set the tuning for the arrangement the same as in eof, in this case 1,1,1,1. But here's the trick: you counter the +6 transpose you did in the tuning by setting the middle A as 311.2 Hz in the tuning pitch section. This causes all notes to be 6 semitones lower than normal. Now, in my case the notes displayed for the strings are F1,A#1,D#2,G#2 but because of the different frequency reference the frequencies correspond to the notes B0,E1,A1,D2 in A440, or the pitch reference we normally use. As you can see, we have technically eliminated the 0th octave from the notes. EDIT: I just realized you can probably do this in a more elegant manner. If you set your tuning to desired tuning +12 and offset that by setting the tuning pitch as 220 Hz you'll get the correct letters for the notes, they'll technically be an octave higher and octave lower at the same time if that makes sense :) The reason I went with +6 is because I first tried this pitch offset on the E standard tuning where you start off from 0 and are capped by the 11 semitone limit in EoF, but for B standard -5+12=7 if my math doesn't fail me here :P Important: Make sure you're not using the same tuning in the toolkit for guitar and bass arrengements. We have already seem some snapped strings because the creator edited the "B standard" tuning in the toolkit to be 7,7,7,7 for bass and that also got applied to the guitar parts. You have to have two separate tunings, one normal for guitar and one with this trick for bass, you can look at LittleLui's post further down to see how he did this. In game when you pick the song it shows the wrong note letters for the strings when you are tuning but they will tune to the correct desired note with the in game tuner (the game says the recording is "slightly" flat or sharp, just 6 semitones :P). Now if you've done everything correctly the chart should come out as it should be played in the desired tuning, and better yet, the game actually registers all of the notes. (EDIT: This bit is obsolete with the +-12 method, the notes should be the same. Though it will say it's in A220 tuning instead of A440) I believe this should work the same for even lower tunings, if you wanna have an A string you just set the tuning on that to -1 (edit: 5 with the +-12 method), or a Bb string with the tuning set to 0 (edit: 6 with the +-12 method) for that particular string. Some funny food for thought: the theoretical lowest note you could pull off with this is Gb0 I believe. Now, the maximum tuning you can set in eof is +11, and if you set the tuning pitch as 233.1, or 11 semitones below the standard middle A you could theoretically have rocksmith register a Db0 note, that is just over 17 Hz :P (actually, after what I realized, see the edit, the lowest you can go is theoretically C0 I think) This will need some testing and fiddling around, obviously it's not an intended solution. Then again, the whole concept of cdlc's were not intended by the developer :) EDIT: Here's a video of an actual cdlc by Rockfirstlast made with this trick, seems to be working perfectly. The tuning is C# Drop B Link Update: LittleLui has done a cdlc with BEAD tuning for bass with the +-12 method and it's working. The cldc is No Love Lost by Carcass if you wanna test it for yourself. He also made this comment in another post where he explains the trick in simple steps for already charted songs, might be useful to post it here: where csct stands for the toolkit of course.

  12. <soapbox> I hate to sound like a pussy, but please - wear earplugs when gigging. There is no cure, and no hope. Now, you can obviously get Tinnitus from things aside from concerts but that's a big contributor. Mine's pretty severe. Ambient noise needs to be over 95 decibles in order for me to not hear the ringing. Sleep is a joke, silence forever gone. If your ears aren't ringing forever already, take measures to try to ensure it doesn't. </soapbox>

  13. Da Rules (Credit to the Ubi Forums for some Ideas!): 1. Anyone may join the contest as long as he's a forum member. 2. You can play "Score Attack" On Hard or "Learn a Song" with all sections mastered (all purple): You may also play a song which does not have DD on Score Attack easy if you cannot get through it on hard as all the notes will still show up on easy but it won't X you out as easily. 3. There are three classes: Beginner, Intermediate and Masterclass. If you enter to the contest the first time, you choose your class. 3.2 You are then leveled automatically as follows: 3x =>90% (3 weeks in a row) or 1x 98% qualifies you for the next class. If you score <=79% on a level two weeks in a row you are leveled down one class. You may choose to follow this rule or not we are very laid back on this rule as some songs are either easier or harder so if a given song in a class is too difficult for you please feel free to enter by playing the song you feel comfortable with. 4. Both instruments are leveled separately. 5. You may only enter in one class per arrangement. (Bass, Rhythm, lead) but you may participate in all available arrangements 6. One Song is chosen for all Instruments and classes 7. Every Saturday new songs are chosen. From all participants of a class, one is chosen at random by Kaijin, Krazyone or Richomat. 8. Every member should put the song he/she would choose in the Song Selection List 9. Only 1 song per class will be selected and only custom DLC's with at least 1 arrangement for guitar and 1 arrangement for bass are allowed. Also Originally included DLC may be selected as well. NO OFFICIALLY RELEASE DLC is supported at this time. . 10. You only need to change the song in the list if you are selected. If not, you can keep the same choice, or choose another, it's up to each one of you. 11. On Saturday, if your name is picked and you didn't entered any song in the Song Selection List, another member will be chosen. 12. Starting with the publication of the songs, you may enter your score. 13. The scores are entered in the corresponding google doc: Leaderboard Kaijin, Krazyone, richomat and afterdark take care of entering the scores. 14. You must post a screenshot with your score showing the Accuracy %. 15. Ranking is done by percentage first, then by Longest Streak. 16. If you play LAS (Learn a Song), you percentage will be always, xx.00%, if you prefer SA (Score Attack), your percentage will always be xx.xx%. 17. You may choose any song for your class as long as it's provided on the forums and has at least 1 arrangement for each instrument. 18. Every song is up for discussion until Sunday around 23:00 UTC. If you think a song is to hard, please let us know in the thread, so we may discuss it. 19. After Sunday 23:00 the songs are set and are not allowed to change. 20. The contest closes the next Saturday around 18:00 UTC 21. The winners are announced in the OP of the corresponding week's thread. 22. Rules may change without notice. So watch out. [countdown]469514[/countdown] Last weeks winners: Lead Beginner: MonstaS4 Intermediate: Motive Masterclass: Thrallsa Rhythm Beginner: MonstaS4 Intermediate: Motive Masterclass: firekorn Bass Beginner: Izzy Intermediate: Arcolett2005 Masterclass: doyleman7 Congrats to all the winners and a special recognition to those who scored 100%. 18. No worries. I don't think anyone was actually offended (or they shouldn't be). You make a valid point. But since this is all done on a volunteer basis - including downloading and playing the customs -- there's no real way to ensure that clunkers never happen. Personally, I make sure my customs at least run in Rocksmith before posting them - but I'm usually too excited to get them out there to test them thoroughly first.

  19. So i gave Beat it another chance today. And to my surprise it worked a lot better than last time. So i upped my 45% accuracy to a whopping 81%. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k228/maztor42/Rocksmith%20championship%202014/Beatit81_zps3d2dfb3e.png So if you get low scores on the first try and think its impossible. Try a few more times or try again another day. It might come around for you.

  21. The VERY few I have made are tested, sometimes I get others to test them BEFORE I release them call me anal, but whatever. I felt horrible a few days back when I uploaded a new version of one and the went back and found it was a hanger. Song started but no GO on the music. As soon as I realized it, I went back to the original and then fixed the update. But at no point did anyone PM me saying,, hey man it's broken. Feedback is important.I ASKED Firekorn to review my second one and he pointed out several issues. As soon as I have more time I will try to fix the one I asked him to review. It MAY, hell, LIKELY will require an entire redo , but that's ok. I want to put quality out there.

  24. Before just slapping a "Y" splitter cable in line with your output I would check this thread: You may get a bit more noise that you would like. I have set up my bass to play through my amp in parallel with RockSmith. I got a hearty "what do you think you are doing!" from my wife. I usually play while she is watching TV. Normally in the same room. I almost picked up a semihollow body guitar, but realized I would never get to play it as it would be "too loud" when not plugged in.

  25. I should have added another sentence. 90 percent of the Customs are fantastic. I love the hard work that is put into getting these to us. But I was just pointing out that some were rushed out without proper testing. I am truly sorry if I offended anyone with that post. Ive tried to produce a quality custom and its a process in itself. Hats off to all that attempt this. Rock On CustomsForge community!!!

  26. If you take a look at this post and the following answer for exemple. I know it was harsh but god i would gladly play this song if it was actually playable and the new version is broken since at least the 10th april. Some charter might have taking it the wrong way and i'm sorry about this, i will gladly help any charter that ask for it but at first i prefer to say what i think and see how it goes from there. But on the other hand i can be very nice when the custom is good. The type of feedback that i have most of the time is when the CDLC doesn't start, so in the end i think that my customs doesn't have a lot of problem :-P If you really want to give feedback take a look at the testers list in the Workshop section it could be a good place to start.

  27. I've uploaded a couple of customs knowing they have issues, but reasoning that they're at a point where they're playable enough to get feedback, or at least to allow others to have fun with them. I find that I need to play the custom myself quite a number of times to work out all the kinks -- and it really helps me to be able to play the song perfectly before I can do that. Which takes a lot of time. So on the one hand, yes, I could sit on the custom for a few more weeks until I've worked out all the kinks so as not to offend anyone's sensibilities with a 'subpar' release. On the other hand, I've made a few customs that, for whatever reason, I have NOT added to the database. And those customs are gathering dust in my computer. I keep saying I'll get to them... but I'm more preoccupied with fixing the kinks in the songs that I have added to the database. Maybe there should be a checkbox in the database form -- something like "Completed" - yes/no . At the point where the charter of the custom feels it's reached completion, he can check this. This might be helpful for leechers people who come here only to grab CDLCs without contributing feedback.

  35. I don't want to start a flame war, but this does seem a bit precious to me. It's not like the charters wrote the songs or played in the recordings, and often they've used tabs created by others. Yes charters put a lot of work into making CDLCs, but I don't think there should be a problem with making available a CDLC made by someone who isn't on this website, unless you're also going to prevent CDLC that wasn't uploaded by the rights-holders of the actual song! The 'original charter' should be given credit out of politeness, but the idea that a CDLC is "owned" by the creator seems at odds with the fact that the "creator" doesn't own most of the content of the CDLC, and it's all provided as a gift to the community for educational purposes. The administrators of the website can obviously dictate whatever rules they wish, as its their website, but this does seem oddly inconsistent to me.
