  1. This comes from the discussion over at http://customsforge.com/topic/1470-the-need-to-separate-good-cdlc-from-unfinishedbad-one/ Basically this is a list of guys willing to commit some of our time to testing CDLC and commenting our findings be it at the workshop pertinent to that CDLC, via PM and/or the google docs below, if you need anything tested let us know by posting here or via PM to any of us at the list below, PERSONALLY i preffer PMs that way i get a notification so yeah, also let us know if you would like to test CDLC, this is an open group and we are happy to get more guys to join just try to keep it relaxed and follow our example, cheers :). COMPLETE LIST OF TESTED CDLC: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqgJhtukD_LedE85eVg4V3E2TjlZZ0t0RFJnNlZSU1E&usp=sharing%C2%A0 GUIDELINES FOR TESTERS(this are suggestions but we would really appreciate any tester keeping close to them): -If you plan to test CDLC on a constant or semi-constant basis please let Olorin or myself know(its much more convenient for us if you do it via PM, BTW) that way we will add you to the list. -Its not a job, you can do it on your own speed but we do ask you to report your feedback in at least two places, 1) the CDLC/workshop post of that particular song and also the GOOGLE DOC(link up there). -If you report feedback at the CDLC post please go as much in detail as you feel to but when posting feedback in the google doc please try to keep it short and simple, read the first feedbacks to see how we did it and take from that example. -Also please be sure to post links to the particular file you are reviewing for clarity sake. A little explanation on the google docs entries logic: As you can see we have the basic information colums: Artist, Song, Testers, Link, Status and Feedback. ***Artist/Song: self explanatory, name of the artist and the particular song you tested. ***Testers: basically, US, you, whoever has valid feedback for the CDLC. ***Link: link to the CDLCDB/WORKSHOP/FILE you tested, try to keep them valid in case the autor of the CDLC changes something. ***Status: The current status of the TESTING DONE on the CLDC, NOT the status of the charter project/CDLC, i.e. if it needs more TESTING, if it has been fully tested or not, personally i manage 2 status, FULLY TESTED(which i color GREEN) and AWAITING TESTERS (means me or someone tested the CDLC but would also like for more people to give us feedback on that particular CDLC, specially if i/we didnt tested ALL the features in the song, for example i only tested the bass but no lead) ***Feedback: BASIC feedback, specially short comments that summarize your findings, feel free to go into more detail when posting in the particular CDLC entry at the database or workshop post. For example: "Lead: good but tone is too muddy/overdriven, rhythm: good but a bit imprecise at the end, bass: great" As you can see you give info on what and where needs work but you can go into waaay more detail at the post of that CDLC on the DB. ALSO, i just added the "CHARTER" column, that way we can give credit to whoever charted the CDLC ;). THANK YOU :). TESTERS: CrazyEddie (on weekends) *************** JayEm ********* Olorin ******** urworstknight ****************** xDatBoiSOBLE ******************* Joe ***** piepesado ************** Firekorn *********** EDIT (26,04,2014): Just a small notice, i havent run away haha, ive just been busy with work and will continue to be until the end of this month (april, 2014), i really want this small project to get serious enough to help the community while being relaxed and not stressfull specially for the rest of our team ;).

  2. Oh my yes. I thought I was doing pretty well till I heard myself through my Costco Fender practice amp. I play with my amp and RS volume about even and my technique has vastly improved. I didn't realize how much RS was able to hide! I bought a Boss DD-7 pedal to play with and also use it to send signal to the RS cable and to my amp at the same time. Sounds great! I would highly recommend anyone use an amp so you can hear how you really sound.

  5. Damn. Perfect all the way through and then missed one of the last notes. I don't know about the guitar arrangement, but I feel like beat it might be a little easy for masterclass bass.

  6. I use an AXEFX II with the Rocksmith cable plugged into the rear output. Mute the player guitar in Rocksmith, and you'll only hear the AxeFX II processed signal. Dial in your own tones. Works like a dream.

  8. I haven't run into bad ones for a while myself. Make sure if you find them you are leaving feedback letting the author know .. it's also not a horrible thing to send a POLITE PM letting them know if the custom is that broken.

  9. I agree with Izzy, possibly these "Sub-par" CDLCs are simply newcomers to charting (which is great), learning to create customs, but I haven't seen many bad CDLCs anyway.

  10. could you give an example please? ive noticed that a lot of people are getting MUCH more proficient at charting, and the quality is getting better .. perhaps simply more people are starting to chart, and the quality of those are suffering. *shrug* wont know without more data

  11. thanks a lot for the tutorial !!! it helped me a lot because there is no video tutorials for tones and it was a bit hard to me to understand by words.

  20. I use a lot of violin, viola and trompets tones in my customs and if you need it just import with the toolkit. For Example: The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony Kansas - Dust in the Wind. I dont know if sounds perfect but it is really close, so use it as a base if you like.

  23. I feel like in am the perfect person to address each of these issues. 1) forget anything that makes playing guitar unenjoyable. I started playing songs where it was possible for me to use one finger on my fretting hand and worked on memorizing simple.songs so I could stare at my guitar because my hands didn't know where they were on the guitar neck. Play songs you like, in the simpliest difficulty you can manage, and work your way up until you get to the point where you know what's being displayed is just barely out of your league. At that point, slow the song down in riff repeater and grind at it until you learn that section. ALTERNATIVELY, what I did at first, was to play songs up to getting to that point, then I'd just find another song I really liked and played the easier difficulties until I hit that difficulty threshold again, then j found a new song. I'd work on like 3-4 at a time, play each of them every time I picked up.the guitar, and eventually I got comfortable enough that is want to crank up the difficulty. On easiet songs, sometimes i wouldnt even go into riff repeater, id just play the whole song terribly and have fun working on my coordination. Eventually I got to the point where I couldnt just jump into a song and play it. Thats when you need to use riff reapeater to its fullest potential to undetsta d and practice the song you're working in. Just a disclaimer real fast, I'm still a beginner/intermediate guitar player. The hardest thing I've gotten 90% on is probably plug in baby, we share the same skies, etc., two songs I still struggle on. I've played both of those songs a LOT. But pushing the limits of your ability is when you can actually feel your skill increasing. 2/3) can't speak to this on a personal level, but I have a friend who is in the advanced/expert level of guitar who has small hands and more importantly, has a condition where he cannot twist his wrist, AT ALL. He can still playbarre chords better than iI can. Want more inspiration? Look on YouTube "audrey rocksmith". You'll know exactly what video to watch, she plays base and guitar. While were on the inspiration digression, look up wodashin on the rocksmith forums and look up his thread. I strongly suggest you look up that thread and use the techniques this guy used to learn guitar. In one year or playing, this guy can play hanger 18 and cliffs of dover. One fucking year and he's one of the highest scoring players on the leaderboard. He worked his ass off to get there and he was smart enough to be able to train himself. Audrey has a very good mentor. Speaking of which, get yourself a mentor. Someone that you can ask simple questions and even more importantly, jam with. I always just wanted to learn songs, noyn improvise, but its so important and really just added a new layer to my guitar skill. 5) Losing my religion was the first song I played where I was like "holy shit I'm a guitar player.". I love that song also, its not incredibly hard (but took me a lot of practice, especially the 12-17 double stops stretches that instill have problems with). Up until that song, I avoided all chords other than power chords. After that song, I was comfortable with chords and started learning more. That song was a huge turning point for me, keep at it, one section at a time. Some other songs I put in that relative difficulty range (easier and harder than losing my religion that I like to play) are: me and the bean, step out of the car, slow hands, take me out, no rain, in bloom, plug in baby, go with the flow, all the small things, vasoline, we share the same skies, do you remember, rebel rebel, song 2, don't fear the reaper, self esteem, boys don't cry, smoke on the water, pumped up kicks, high and dry, are you gonna go my way, icky thump. That's very roughly the order of difficulty. Ordered by my mastery, though some of those songs I got to the 90+% range in a few tries, some took 50 tries. Some of them just have very hard solos, generally i leave solos leveled down unless I really like a song. 6) the riff repeater is the main reason rocksmith is as amazing as it is. You need to harness the riff repeater to its greatest extent. You said you were having problems with the strumming pattern. Well if its going too fast for you to figure out, SLOW THAT SHIT DOWN. You'll know the pattern in 10 minutes. There are times that I literally put the speed down as far as it can go, and slowly work the speed up. When you get into the 90+% range, ho 1-2% at a time, especaiily for over 95%. I, by far, spend the most time in riff repeater than any other facet of guitar playing. Additional tips: I don't have a lot of bad habits, but part if playing guitar has been figuring out why I sound like shit. You need to shut the game off, or pause, and play the notes without background music- a lot. Jamming helped me a lot in this regard. I have yet to use session mode much, but it is something I'm going to be using more and more this summer. Try to learn some basic chords. As soon as my finger dexterity was good enough to use 4 fingers reliably, I should have gotten more exposure to chords. Lots of riffs are based on several chords, and if you know them, it makes the song so much easier to play. We share the same skies is a great example of this. If you are trying to play that song one string at a time, its nearly impossible for me, at least. Don't fear the reaper is another good.example. A good wah of learning chords is to play that game castle chorded or whatever. Not only are you given some.extra time to hit those chords, but they slowly give you more than one at a time, and they say exactly what the chord is called. Its seriously a great game. Book complete, the end. 6)

  24. The Franz Ferdinand tracks I've made seem to be popular... Over 140 downloads of "Auf Asche" :) I mainly focus on the bass parts for my customs... Also try NIN - Piggy (album version) Gojira - Satan is a Lawyer (very fun for me) INXS - Never Tear Us Apart (Classic from my birthyear) Serg Tankian - Lie Lie Lie Nick Cave - Stagger Lee (i Wish Mercy seat was available) HIM - Wicked Game

  26. I have unashamedly 'borrowed' this idea from the official Rocksmith forum from Ubisoft, the original thread is right here (have used an anonymiser just in case linking to Ubisoft from here is a bit dodgy!) and full credit goes to P308R for coming up with the original idea! :D spiritofcat on there has done the following tutorial on how to record your Session Mode stuff on your PC, here they are: People on there have been uploading their tunes/solos to Soundcloud here. I've had problems with very low guitar sound the first time you start Rocksmith and Audacity but quitting Rocksmith and restarting it seems to fix the issue. I'm full of Prawn Balti at the moment but will have a go in an hour or so and upload something...but be warned - I'm a bit pants lol

  27. Just thought I'd give this a *bump*. The members of the offical Rocksmith forums have started to have a weekly Session Mode jam. A different band, key and scale is going to be chosen each week. This week its the Modern Blues band, Blues scale and key of E Major. There's my contribution, a definite improvement on what I did a month ago! If anyone else wants to give it a go then post your videos or Soundcloud recordings either here or in the thread on the official Rocksmith forums. Week 1 is right here, and Week 2 is starting on Monday.

  28. Hi everyone, I just wanted to give you a general feedback on this discography project from the point of view of someone who has entered the whole world of Rocksmith and CDLC less than two weeks ago. To me, the songlist in the first post seems quite "misleading" in the sense that it lists a lot of CDLC that seem to be have created somewhere by someone, but are not publicly available. For example "Nothing else matters" is listed as "(2012) (2014, Lead only)", but I cannot find it in the database, nor in a WIP thread. I hardly know anything about the reasons why SA stopped and I have no idea what the difference between SA and http://www.rscustom.net/dlc is, but somehow I stumbled upon the latter and the search reveals that "Nothing else matters" had been posted there - yet there is no download link. All in all, less than half of the listed songs can actually be found through the customsforge search engine (quick count of "2014" tags). I explained that I find the song list misleading and see two consequences: Consumers see that CDLC exists and demand a download link - while at the same time a lot of those CDLC are not available for whatever reason. This puts pressure onto those who may still have them but are not officially allowed to share them, and may result in bad feelings for a lot of persons, including the original charter (who's decision not to share some content we must simply accept) Charters who would be willing to recreate unavailable CDLC might get confused, whether those will become available someday... and this may stop them from creating contentBy reading through this forum the last days, I understood that customsforge now is the one and only place to celebrate the joy of CDLC, to enable charters and consumers to get together and to make consumers happy by letting them download customs, while making charters happy by seeing that people enjoy their work. In this sense, customsforge represents the creativity of the CDLC community, and so does this thread with regard to the efforts on Metallica. Therefore a great band deserves a great and productive discography list! The bottom line of my post is that I suggest a cleanup of the list: Only the content that is actually available or has been confirmed by the charter to be made availbable should be included there. This will prohibit a lot of false expections and hurt feelings - as seen in this thread. It must have been a lot of work, but The Muse Projekt seems to me like a perfect and beautiful example! Regards, Azrael Well... I hope this was appropriate feedback, my apologies if I simply misunderstood something. But I just couldn't get those words out of my head, so I had to write them down, if you know what I mean...

  29. I totally get what they were going for but I just don't think it works well in practice. The horizontal scroll probably plays better in a way on a smaller screen... too much neck work to read the notes on a big screen.
