General Led Zeppelin discussion (because it's important :D)3). Create an environment where all Zepheads are appreciated. I'll be going through the discography in chronological order, so if there's a particular song that you're anxiously awaiting, I will eventually get to it. Wearing and Tearing *Important Notice* At some point midway through the Presence album (as I recall) I started using the "photo negatives" of the album art that you see above. This represents two things: 1) the CDLC uses the newly remastered audio, as this the album art that has been used for those commercial releases. 2) that the CDLC has been made to the best of my current abilities, regarding both audio fidelity and overall quality, and will likely not receive any future updates. In the coming weeks/months, I will be going through the catalog once more, in order to fix and improve a few things in some of the earlier Zeppelin CDLCs. Most of them were made over 2 years ago, and frankly, my standards for quality have improved quite a bit since then. There is no specific timeline for this, but as I sign off on each custom, I'll be placing a * symbol next to the song name in the above list. This symbol will indicate that the two qualities listed above are present in the CDLC. If you haven't already, you may want to make sure that you've added your favorite songs to your collection (the ignition search function) so that you're notified when updates are made.

Deep Peace is kind of one long solo, and there are about seven changes of the BPM in the song, as well as changes from 4/4 to 7/8 and 6/8. All of those changes are tabbed out very accurately* and I was able to apply them in EOF. The problem is that sometimes Devin does not really stick to the rythm or how the notes may be "supposed to be played" according to the tabs with "perfect rythm". When his instrument is the only one, you don't really notice that he sometimes plays a tiny bit too late or too early. I see the following options here: Add BPM-changes to every single beat that is effected. I tried that but it became quite a mess (e.g. in a 4/4 shorten the first three beats that contain notes and making the 4th much longer, so that the next measure still begins at the same time) Move around the notes. From everything I read so far, this should probably not be preferred. Also I think DDC does a better job when all the notes stick to the beat grid Simply do nothing. I have to slow it down to 25% to be able to move notes to the correct position, so my thought is that most of this stuff isn't going to be noticed by a regular guitar player. It might even feel better to play exactly with the rythm!?While I tested 1 and 2, I cannot judge option 3 simply because I lack the skills to play it  So this is where I count on your help: Which option is the best? If you can play the song but feel like something is slightly off, you are probably right, so I would like to know about it. Also this is the first time I tried editing tones for a song, so please give me feedback on those. Thanks, Azrael Credit: *Tabs by Jesse Cohan http://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/devin-townsend-deep-peace-tab-s69985t1

  8. Hello all, On a personal note I have my 25th birthday coming up April 1st (April Foolsday), and I just got a new job last week so my life has been busy. I have not however been forgetting about CF at all, we have active developers working on future versions of search. I'm proud to announce we almost have 2,300 CDLC's. New features for our search:You can now "Follow" a post and receive updates when someone updates their CDLC. (You can check your settings here: http://customsforge.com/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core&area=notifications [under pages > Notification method for new versions of songs ] I'm also happy to officially announce we've been working on Search3 (codename: "Ignition") We have tons of new features that everyone will be excited about. Our developers are working hard on bringing you all of the features you want.Thank you everyone who's been supporting us, your donations help keep everything going. I understand it's a bit expensive right now but once major development done we should be able to have everything under $200 a month (not including IP. Board license renewals)We will have more updates in the future and thank you everyone for your support.

  10. I know I am meant to learn these songs in the game but good old fashioned tablature is what I have to turn to when I really want to learn something with a lot of notes crammed into a short amount of time. I took the suggestions from people like me that prefer to use both tab and the game to learn a song, and started just going to youtube and pausing, then manually tabbing by hand what they are playing by watching the note highway. Biggest problem is that leaves a lot of room for error (especially when they play w/o strings inverted) so I was hoping it was possible to include a pdf. of the tablature used to created the custom or a link to the online tab that was used so we can print it off and use it as an additional supplement to learn these songs. A second thing I would really love to see is an agreed upon format for naming the files. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal but I try to keep all mine in this format so I don't have duplicates and can easily check my folder to see what I have and what I still need. Band_Name_Song_Name_Version_p.psarc Would like to close by saying thanks to all the people that have put in so much time already to make this site and all these custom songs. There was so much available here that I actually bought the game again for my cpu and another copy for a buddy and his cpu. Now I just need to figure out how to import all my dl's I bought on xbox up here and I will have like 600+ songs  Thanks everyone. Shad

  11. I'm betting the problem is that you didn't remove the Rocksmith difficulty limit - you're working on the "Amazing" level, which Rocksmith doesn't recognize. Go to the track options -- Rocksmith --> remove difficulty limit, then see what happens. EOF might flash a warning afterwards, but it doesn't seem to affect anything. You can also copy all the notes, then paste them into the new Rocksmtih level ( I always work on level 4, but I don't think that matters).

  12. I only played the lead part. It was done very well and I enjoyed it, thanks. The only problem I saw was the notes are all lagging the beat markers by a very small but noticeable amount. A grid snap would fix this, but you'd have to update the beat map a tiny bit. And it would mess with all the other arrangements too. These guys just had official DLC come out. If the songs have a similar tone, I'd copy that

  14. DDC will divide each section in phrases with respect of the phrase length parameter. Then all phrases which contain the same sequence of notes will have the same name and will evolve in the same manner in the game.

  17. Try skipping this song for now. Do something else, there's so much more to do in RS2014. That's what I usually do. I remember doing some lesson tracks that were a bit heavy for me at that moment and skipping them for a week or two. When I returned to those tracks i was amazed how much i've improved.

  18. @@Collision Don't feel too bad I got that 100% on the first try but after trying a few times after that in LAS I was missing notes left and right... and I still couldn't post a 100 in LAS so don't feel bad. Also don't be afraid to try the rhythm portion of the songs as sometimes the rhythm portions are much easier than the leads. I started learning guitar by playing rhythm and only recently got into the lead portion as that was something that I always wanted to learn. Lead is tough and although this song only has 44 notes to play for the lead its not an easy song so if you got over 90% which you did be proud but don't give up as I am sure you will get it.

  23. For me personally, I think RS has limited learning appeal to the higher grade player. For beginners, it's awesome, because there is probably 1-2 years worth of study/content that helps build technique and knowledge. For Intermediate players (myself), it still offers a lot, but not in all areas - like Session mode, I would love to see more visual guidance, like chord shapes displayed with fingering and a Name of the chord to help with recognition. For me, the biggest impact RS has had is actually getting me engaged in playing. When you've played for years (not professionally) and have been complacent in what you know, you find yourself in a rut... RS has been a great tool for getting me engaged with guitar again, and that's a good thing  For advanced players, I can only assume it's just a bit of fun, something that's engaging and can fast-track learning songs for extra chops. I, like you, have seen a lot of videos (Lick Library etc) with fantastic info like 'C-A-G-E-D' systems (seen in session mode scales), fretborad mastery classes filled with drills of chords/Arpeggios/scales etc... But in the end, it comes down to this: "Knowledge is not enough, we must apply" - (I was told that was a Bruce Lee quote, unverified) I came across this YouTube video recently and I liked what the instructor had to say, although a little monotone, the examples and theory is well explained and he seems to have a fair few videos on different soloing methods. I think this is the kind of stuff you need to do to get where you want to go. Hope it helps.

  24. @@UKLooney That's because you are actually using some sort of tone. It doesn't have to be a custom tone, just some type of tone period. Assuming I understand correctly. Some people are posting them with no tone to them at all.

  25. Somewhere in the middle of the second set of every Grateful Dead show the band turns a corner. They enter a musical environment without walls or structure. The song form is abandoned, and the very elements of music may be called into question. The only mandate is to explore new territory. It is an environment where rhythm, tone, color, melody, and harmony can be explored without rules or predetermination, a musical adventure where composition and performance are one.

  32. If you want to improve, play Buckethead :) :) this way you can learn how to play better as well as enjoy great music :) (not only my opinion, but few friends too) You will find very fast parts as well as slow songs with many bends and other techniques too :) and in the rhythm parts you will learn nice chords too :) For very fast parts I use Riff Repeater and it works very well :) Just 1 year and 6 months ago I did not know how to play guitar and now thanks to Buckethead I learned a lot, I can play most of the songs in RS2014 with 80%-90% accuracy, sometimes close to 100% even :) For bass I get 95%-100% accuracy for most of the songs in RS2014. I even could not dream about it about 2 years ago when I started to think about playing guitar, I still can not believe that after so short time I could improve so much... Still much to learn, I am just starting the way :) Have to learn more chords as this is my main problem to be fast playing strange chords :)

  33. I don't want to start a flame war, but this does seem a bit precious to me. It's not like the charters wrote the songs or played in the recordings, and often they've used tabs created by others. Yes charters put a lot of work into making CDLCs, but I don't think there should be a problem with making available a CDLC made by someone who isn't on this website, unless you're also going to prevent CDLC that wasn't uploaded by the rights-holders of the actual song! The 'original charter' should be given credit out of politeness, but the idea that a CDLC is "owned" by the creator seems at odds with the fact that the "creator" doesn't own most of the content of the CDLC, and it's all provided as a gift to the community for educational purposes. The administrators of the website can obviously dictate whatever rules they wish, as its their website, but this does seem oddly inconsistent to me.

  34. I had just had a situation where I wanted to look at an older version of a CDLC, but because they were named the same, the newer version overwrote the older one. Of course, I don't have 600 CDLCs.
