  1. Guys, We just hit over 2,000 CDLC for RS 2014! Congratulations to all of the hard working charters and the users who test them! You are all awesome and should be proud of your hard work. This community and its people are fantastic. Here's to hoping we'll one day get to make a 3, 4, and 5k milestone thread in the future!

  2. Hi, folks. The latest hotfix (r1308) is in the first post. Changes are as follows: *Fixed a bug where clicking and dragging beats so that notes go over what was the previously the end of the chart would cause the notes to be deleted, now the chart's length is extended to retain the notes at their new positions. *Improved error handling with Rocksmith lyric import. *Updated Guitar Pro import to recognize when the selected XML file is a Rocksmith XML file rebuilt by the toolkit, which omits the XML declaration tag. *Improved GP import by allowing two consecutive bend points of the same strength to be imported instead of just the first of them. *Fixed a bug where the "Track>Rocksmith>Fret hand positions>Generate all diffs" function didn't correctly create undo states. *Fixed bugs that would occur if tech view was enabled for a track: Manually or automatically generated fret hand positions would be incorrect, the exported MIDI wouldn't contain the right notes. *Added a quick save function to the File menu. This saves the project without all of the prompts and warnings that the Save and Save as functions present. *Added a function (Track>Rocksmith>Fret hand positions>Delete effective) that deletes the fret hand position in effect at the current seek position, if there is any. This function is assigned the SHIFT+Del shortcut. *Improved the fret hand positions display preference by having it also draw a red line across the fret board to indicate its position, so it's easier to tell whether or not they line up exactly with notes. *Changed the "Track>Pro guitar>Ignore tuning/capo" option to be enabled by default for pro guitar/bass tracks in new projects. *Improved the labeling of difficulty tabs to display (*) if tech notes are present in the track difficulty but are hidden from display because tech view is not enabled. *Improved the populated indicator for the tracks in Song>Track, which will now display an asterisk when the track has no normal notes but has one or more tech notes. *Added a function (Note>Rocksmith>Generate FHPs) that generates fret hand positions for the selected notes, removing only the existing fret hand positions that already exist anywhere within that range of notes in the active track difficulty. I'm giving the Mediafire account a try, hopefully the download stats work this time around.

  3. So I did a CDLC search for Pearl Jam and go no results which I found odd, Pearl Jam isn't exactly the least popular band around. I assume there is a reason for not having any Pearl Jam CDLC, I just don't understand why. Can anyone shed some light on this topic? Thanks.

  5. I agree that the charter does a lot of work, and absolutely credit should be given when you're uploading somebody else's work -- taking credit for somebody else's work is just plain rude. However, a charter should not be able to claim "ownership" over a CDLC as it was never their IP to begin with. The "rocksmith content" of a CDLC not made by the actual rights-holder of a song should be considered "public domain." It doesn't make sense to claim any sort of right over a CDLC unless you own the copyright on the actual song! This is a tricky issue, and I certainly want to see charters get the credit for all their hard work and gifts to the community. I don't know who was banned or what the relevant songs were, I'm just concerned with this curious double-standard -- it's like trying to sue somebody for copyright infringement because they made a copy of your bootleg concert recording.

Rhythm: Open Chords (C, Am, G, F) 1st position.Lead: Power Chords (C5, A5, G5, F5) all over the low-E string for a heavier sounds.Bass: Single notes over the low 3 strings 1st position. The track is 12 bars each its own 2 independent section without counting the lead-in silence and the out. Well 12 in 4/4 time, you can also think of them as 24 in 2/4... I had to do it this way or there would be over 256 levels of difficulty. Each section has 20 difficulties each with a completely different rhythm pattern: 1 & 2 &0:1: *2: *3: *4: *5: * *6: * *7: * *8: * *9: * *10: * *11: * * *12: * * *13: * * *14: * * *15: * * * *16: * * * 1/617: *** 1/1218: *** 1/1219: *** *** 1/12That should be enough to let you practice almost any rhythm. Using this page as reference we some example strums patterns using 4 sections: #1 15 15 15 15#2 6 6 6 13#3 6 13 6 13#4 13 13 13 13#5 6 14 13 14#6 1 7 11 13#7 13 13 13 13 with only the bass strings on the 1st beat of each#8 6 15 6 15 only bass strings on the 1st beat of the 6s#9 6 13 6 13 only bass strings on both beats of the 6sBasically it is mix and match to form the patterns you want.Needless to say you want Riff Repeater to NOT level your sections up automatically if you want specific patterns, BUT it is fun to get constantly changing patterns too so that's another way to play.   8. This idea came up in response to another thread. In my opinion, there should be a method of 'rescuing' CDLCs of charters who have disappeared (for one reason or another). There's no reason why the rest of us shouldn't have the right to continue to play these files. On the other hand, no one should be allowed to (or wish to) take credit for someone else's work. So is there a way to upload CDLCs under a "Legacy" heading of some sort? This way, the original charter can still be credited for the chart. But we can rebuild the database. I'm sure most of us have these CDLCs on our hard drives. I know I'd be happy to upload what I have. Again, I view customs as an open source project. And sharing them is no different from sharing tabs/g pro files, as people have been doing for many years now.

In line with the recent "Rescuing Customs" chat, I propose the following: Whenever someone uploads a custom, have them check a box that specifies whether they are willing to have others modify and re-upload their CDLC with either a link to the original post, or a blurb thanking the original author(s). You could set this to default on in an Account Setting, if people wish to do so for all of their custom work. I see this as an important piece to allow the distinction between people who are happy to open-source their work, and those that want their upload to be the final, definitive point. This way, we can have multiple people working on the same custom without worrying if the author would become upset. For example, it could encourage people who are working on something like a discography to separate tasks, and have one person transcribe the notes then pass on tones to a tone expert, and then on to a bass slapper, etc.

Sounds really cool.Doing a Google review search, the review’s were favorable.I was always going to do a search on the forum to figure out how people record Rocksmith gameplay.Now I know. This software will do it. The best part is, its free.

Love this site, I have only had a guitar for 4 weeks however I've written my own music for 10 years in Propellerhead Reason so I'm picking it up slowly but surely, this site has helped keep it fun and interesting :) can't wait to see some Primus / Pennywise, if not, I'll watch a tutorial on how to do customs (already had a bit of a look) I'm sure I'm capable I've tracked MIDI before and played music games since the original DDR so yeah :) Thanks again everyone for making an awesome community awesome!

  15. What happens when a CDLC has problems and the charter hasn't made any updates for months? What is the polite way to submit a fix? I'd like to see CDLCs viewed more like open-source projects that anybody can improve upon, rather than "exclusively owned" by the original charter. I admit I've not made any CDLCs yet so my opinion shouldn't count as much as a charter's. OTOH if there was a nice way to submit fixes to neglected CDLCs, I might actually spend the time to do it for a couple that have been bothering me, and everybody wins. Perhaps related -- if I do submit any CDLC it will likely be for songs I've composed myself (though I'm not sure if there's any interest in this sort of thing), so I can see the value in the "uploader wants exclusive ownership" model vs the "open-source-anybody-can-improve" model.

I'm playing on a PS3 and the files aren't .psarc it's .psarc.edat but i never tried to take a pc version of a cdlc to try but i don't think it would work, that would be too easy :) I'll try and tell you if it works. There should be an option in rocksmith toolkit to convert .psarc (pc) file to .psarc.edat ;) Try it

  24. ATTENTION! This is NOT going to a separate section! There will be three filters - approved, unapproved, and in progress. The default will be to show all customs, but you can filter if you would like to see only approved customs. It will be integrated within our current search. Hopefully this clears a few things up for everyone :)

  25. A few years back I picked up a guitar magazine with an article by Steve Vai called "Freak Show Excess." It has several pages of intense excersizes covering all manner of guitar playing as well as training tips and insight from Vai himself. They cover a program that Vai believed would help make someone a much better player with practice of his key concepts. It might make an excellent base for a set of guitar training excersizes. I lack the skill and fluidity to play them myself, but if anyone would like them to start a project of their own, I can provide you with them. -k

  26. Well, sure. I've just spent the last week working on my first custom -- I've put in tons of hours on this, and I'm still not done (because I keep screwing up). And yes, it would piss me off is someone tried to pass off MY work as theirs. On the other hand, I'm doing this because I love this particular song and I want to share it with as many as people as possible. So it would piss me off even more if the work I'm doing were to get lost forever. So, yes, I can understand how someone would feel a certain amount of 'ownership' over their customs. But this still doesn't mean they own anything. And let's not be naive -- the moment anyone shares their file, the minute it's put up on a database -- it's already too late. A simple torrents search is all anyone needs in order to recognize that. The only way someone can create a custom and maintain 'ownership' of it is not to share it in the first place. Keep it to yourself. If it's that important to you that this thing is 'yours' and will only be yours, then you should definitely not share it. (You probably should think twice about downloading other people's customs too). Personally, I'm really proud of the work I've been doing -- screwups and all -- and I'm looking forward to sharing the final product with anyone who wants it. No one can take THAT away from me! By the way, I believe there were more than 2,500 customs for RS1. That's a lot of great music lost forever. Unless people are willing to restock the pond.
