To start, download and extract EOF 1.8RC15:
https://ignition4.customsforge.com/eof

You can keep that zip file handy to avoid downloading it more than once. Eventually I plan to add a Rocksmith authoring section to the pro guitar tutorial, but the community's knowledge of the Rocksmith songs' makeup changes pretty quickly so it's hard to know when particular features are considered fully known. For any features that ARE fully known (like anchors), please feel free to remind me if they aren't incorporated into EOF yet, in case I missed any information being passed around on this forum or the Google group.

Note: If you are reporting a bug, please specify which hotfix (date) you're using. I’m currently using EOF 1.8 RC14 (2026 build), and I’ve discovered that this version no longer supports real‑time vocal note placement. When I try to place lyric notes during playback, EOF only lets me place one note per playback run. After that, Enter stops responding until I pause and restart playback.

From what I’ve learned, this isn’t a bug — RC14 removed the old real‑time input system entirely. The A‑key tap‑to‑place, the Input Mode → Real‑time menu, and the older workflow are all gone.

I’ve been told that the last version of EOF that still has full real‑time note placement working correctly is EOF 1.8 RC12 (2022 build). I want to be able to tap notes in time with the music rather than placing everything manually.

The problem is: I can’t find a download for RC12 anywhere. The official sites only have changelogs, and the Google Code archive is too old (1.71, etc.). I do have the 2025 hotfix builds for RC14, but those don’t restore real‑time input.

If anyone has a link, a mirror, or an archived copy of RC12, I’d really appreciate it. Lately I’ve been getting back into the world of rhythm/music games. I used to play a lot of Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and I also played Rocksmith with my now-dead SX Strat copy (lol). All of that is what really got me deep into music and eventually into playing music myself.

Now, after more than 15 years, I’ve started playing again, but this time using YARG, and I’ve honestly been fascinated by it. The only thing is that after downloading every song I could find (around 8,000 songs), I’ve started feeling the urge to create my own songs.

After watching hours of tutorials using Reaper, Moonscraper, and Editor, it seems to me that Editor is the most complete option for my use case, which is simply creating songs for YARG/Clone Hero. I was also surprised to find that it works on Mac (even if it’s a port).

The problem I’m running into is that when I click “New” and then try to import an audio file, it won’t let me select anything, not MP3s, not FLACs, or any other file type, since everything appears greyed out.

I really appreciate any help, and sorry if I haven’t explained myself clearly, it’s something that’s been frustrating me (and I haven’t even really started yet, haha).

Can you select a group of a certain color notes? Hi all, I'm really struggling to get EOF to work. I may be stupid

I am trying to make a Lead Guitar CDLC for Kletka by Molchat Doma. I import the downloaded .ogg file into EOF and set the bpm and time signature to what the tab says (130 bpm and 4/4).
I then try and import the .mid MIDI file I paid for. I try and open the .gp file, but it doesn't even show up in the pop-up file explorer for importing Guitar Pro files.

Back to the .mid file, I open the file and get an error "At least one beat marker was inserted due to mid beat tempo or time signatures changes in the imported file. Make sure to clean up the beat map or update time signatures accordingly" and the thing fails to import.

I then look at the bpm in EOF and see it has been set to fucking 304568.53 . Why?? Am I doing something wrong? I got this tab from songsterr, I have no idea why it is doing this and I don't have the software or experience to figure out what is happening. I understand that this is probably quite a detailed error message but it just means nothing to me. I also can't upload the .mid or .gp files here 😞

	Anybody know how to help?

Here how it looks with tech notes:

If i remove frethand positions at this chords, ingame this chords shows super long on fretboard (from 2 to 6 fret, 6 to 9 and etc). If no - dlc builder shows me this:

I can ignore this and chart works, but how i solve this problem correctly?
I've tried to separate open notes and place them as crazy before chord at 0.001 seconds, but dlc builder give me errors anyway.

	Hi,

I am currently updating my CDLCs and building them with the CDLC Builder. I have some errors I don't know how to fix.

	and

I tried to re-generate hand positions and fingerings but it didn't fix the issue.

As for the linknext I have notes set up like this

It's power chords that should have index finger slide from 4th to 5th fret and 7th is supposed to be the linknext I think. Idk. I'm lost on this one...

Anyone can tell me what I should do to fix these?

Hi,

I'm sure I'm missing something but whenever I import a tab in EOF and automatically generage fingerings, I get weird fingerings like

	- power chord with a root note 0 (0-2-2) EOF generates fingerings (- -3-4) and FHP of 2 and it generates an error later on in DLC builder.

Edit: In fact every double stop has 3-4 fingering.

	- drop D tuning - any chord that should be one one finger like 1-1-1 on the lowest strings generates as 1-2-3

Is this some sort of a limitation or something wrong with my workflow/EOF settings?

Sometimes there is a good CDLC with a very small chart mistake: a wrong note, a missing marker, an awkward fretting, and so on.

I would like to learn how to make such small chart fixes myself, with the minimum amount of work.

Can someone help me out writing a step-by-step guide for this purpose?

I expect that such process in broad strokes goes like this:

1- unpack a CDLC into individual files

2- edit the chart file in EoF

	3- repack/rebuild the CDLC

What tool to use for steps 1 & 3, and what file to edit? What would be the details of each step? Any other steps required?

I am trying to keep this to the minimum effort required, limited to adding/removing/changing notes to the chart. I am not considering bigger changes like fixing the tempo mapping or adding new instruments.

	Hello,

I'm having an issue where my fingerings from eof are not showing when I run the file in rocksmith. I believe I read that only chords will show the fingerings? I have a fingerstyle song where I do have chords but they are arpeggiated. How exactly do I arpeggiate the chords in eof so that my fingerings will show properly? I see there is an arpeggio dropdown under pro guitar but I don't know what to do after that. Thank you!

I updated to the latest version of EoF and the latest hotfix for it.

Well I started the process as I remember it.

Open EoF, click on new, select the MP3 that I want to use.. select the bit rate I want it converted too... but then I get the window to select MP3, OGG.. etc etc pops up again after selecting the bit rate... what? So I select the MP3 AGAIN and then I get an error that it couldn't find guitar.ogg. Which I know of course is the audio file EoF uses for the backing track.. so i go into the folder and there is indeed no guitar.ogg file. It seems EoF is not creating the guitar.ogg file at all.

Is there something I am missing here?

I have been away for a long time, so.. this part of the creation process went pretty smooth back in the day.

Any help would be appreciated.
