Rocksmith 2014 Championship Week 645
Thanks for the week @Vodka And thanks for making changes, it makes the selection look better 😄 Oh something new from Tenacious D, I didn't even know. I don't like the song, but chart is nice and this is a good difficult one for beginners (3). This is good! Interesting mood swings in this song. 4.5 is probably ok. Hmm, there is no more difficult solo here, but there are a lot of technical notes like slides on dubble stops that are difficult to recognized in Rocksmith. 6.5/7. I love Hallas, especially this album! This might actually deserve an 8, the riffs are very fast and solo isn't very difficult but it's still a challenge.

But please could you add Hallas song as the main song in Lead path instead of the bonus? 🙏 (and lower Rhythm a bit, as it's easier than Lead). I already mentioned last week how I dislike good songs being used as bonus songs. Actually, the Billy Talent song is unnecessary here, as the rest of the Lead selection is consistent in terms of ratings.

Oh, I didn't even know that the CDLC of the Hallas song I created was suggested for the championship, thanks @drand But @Vodka, are you saying you only used Rhythm and threw Lead and Bass in the trash? Why are you trolling me like this? 😭🤣 I know that it is always the hardest to match Masterclass Rhythm to the selection. But there are a few better options than only selecting Rhythm from a song that has all playable paths. You can either use the same song for Adv and MC if it's relatively difficult (7 is ok for both). You can also select Rhythm path from a song played in the past (Songs Played spreadsheet) . And in the past, if we didn't use a path, we added it to the SSL - Spare Arrangements spreadsheet so we could go back to it in the future. Edit. And since I created this CDLC myself, I remember it well and have no idea why Rhythm path was rated higher than Lead, where Lead is clearly more difficult due to the solo and more difficult riffs. It's more of a Lead 7.5/8, Rhythm 6.5/7, and Bass similar to Rhythm.

Is anyone else having a strange problem with this note (pull-off yellow 7) being detected? For me, half of it is not detected or it is detected at the very end when I hold it longer. The same problem occurs in the original C# Standard as well as after pitching to E Standard. It's irritating and takes me out of the song's flow because this riff repeats so often...

I don't remember what the bass chart looks like for this song because it's been a while since I played it. But it's good that this is no longer a bonus song on all paths. Rhythm is actually a good bonus because it is quite long and repetitive and the chart is a bit less readable. Yes, if it attracts people, then it's fine. I think most participants prefer to just play what they like, even if it's just a bonus.

In general, back in the old days of the championship, and when I joined a few years ago, there were no bonuses at all (or almost). I don't even know how it was invented, I wouldn't be surprised if I came up with it myself haha 😄 I remember that when I was creating selections, I would sometimes add bonuses if a path didn't fit with the rest (e.g. there were two paths of similar difficulty, or it was a low tuning, boring chart, etc.). But I never added a song as a bonus for all paths; I think @cacahuate51 started doing that 🤔 I'm generally not a fan of adding typical bonus songs unless it's a week with a specific theme and we have more songs that good for the theme. I think @Rodman mentioned this once, but he's calmed down now, and bonuses don't seem to bother him 😉 There are advantages, like a wider selection and a greater chance that a song will attract participants, so if the participants like it, it's fine, but mastering such songs makes less sense if it doesn't affect our statistics/promotions.
