  1. Holy crap! I've been so unplugged from new music lately that I totally missed that Slash and Axl put out a new record together.. I remember the first time I heard Appetite for Destruction when I borrowed the cassette from a friend back in 8th grade. Glad these guys are putting some new music out. It's not the greatest song in the world, but I'll play anything Slash. He is probably my favorite guitarist. I do realize that this is not a masterclass level song, but it is still fun to play and catchy too.
  2. Haven't had too much of a chance to play lately. Got a couple of tries at this one though
  3. I've been on a bit of an Iron Maiden kick for the past few months, so this was a good choice.. I got a new bass guitar recently, so I figure I'll start throwing my hat in the Masterclass bass as well..
  4. Pretty cool song this week. I've been playing a lot of Iron Maiden lately and this is another good track to add to my playlists..
  5. Haven't had too much of a chance to play lately.. Here is what I got..
  6. Another great week of song choices! This is one of my favorite albums. Love most of the songs off this one. Another one of my favorite bands. I've played this song quite a bit on my own, and it is still super challenging for me. Made a little bit of improvement this week. The rhythm of some of the parts still throws me off a little bit. Maybe it's just me.
  7. Wish that I had taken the time to read all the posts earlier in the week. Big thanks to @ jellisjenius for putting together a great week. Most of these songs I have listened to many times over. I remember making mix tapes with some of these on them. lol I wasn't a huge Oasis fan, and this is one of two featured albums that I didn't own. Oasis had some decent songs, but I had never heard this one. I really like this Smashing Pumpkins song. It always had such a cool vibe to it. This is one of my all time favorite albums. Radiohead always had such a distinctive sound and I think the Bends along with this album were their best. They really used dissonance better than any band I've heard and it really shows in these two albums. After OK Computer, they seemed to embrace the weird a bit too much for my tastes, but they still put out some good stuff I vividly remember the day I bought this Rage Against the Machine album. My friend and I bought 15th row tickets to Lollapalooza '93 because we wanted to see Alice in Chains and Primus. I had only heard of a few of the other bands that were playing, but the opening act was Rage. It blew me away so much so that after the show, we went to the Blockbuster music my friend worked at. He had keys to the place so we went in and bought the Rage album. I was lucky enough to see Rage two more times after that. What a show they would put on. This song is always one of my favorites because of the live perfomances of this song. I don't know if they still do it, but back in the 90s, Pearl Jam would always play this song towards the end of their shows. It usually ended up a 20+ minute jam song with Eddie Vedder climbing up on the stage lights and shit. He would seriously be like 30-40 feet off the floor. It was always crazy to see. I didn't make too much progress on this song this week. I got it to sound better, but that didn't reflect in my scores. This is the other album I did not own. I think I soured a little on the Chili peppers for the Dave Navarro years. They were decent, but there seemed to be only a few good songs. John Frusciante is a really unique guitarist and really drives the sound of this band, just got messed up with drugs a bit too much for a few years. I just never came back around to buying their albums although I really enjoy his playing Anyway, sorry for the late post on this. I really had a great time with the songs this week. Also a huge thanks to everyone who puts the championship together each week. I've been lingering around here for a few years and I've become a much better guitarist just coming here every week. Sometimes life gets in the way of things, but I just wanted to take the time to say thanks.
  8. Love love love this song. I'll be working on it some more this week
  9. Love this band. They're from my hometown. I've only seen them once though. I'll need to fix that soon. The video to this song is... interesting.
  10. One of my all time favorite songs. Been working on this for a while.. I've got some room for improvement.
  11. This album spent a lot of time in my CD player. Always love this band. Failed on the very last section And then, on my very next playthrough: Really fun song
  12. This song is really growing on me this week. I can definitely hear the Mastodon influence on this band. Lots of tricky syncopated rhythms.. Fun to play I think I can get this one up to 90 this week..
  13. Did a lot better on this one than I initially expected. First run through it felt like I didn't hit anything.. Got the hang of it after a few run throughs
  14. The more I played this song, the more I liked it. Got to put in a bit of time on this one this week. Good stuff
