Hi all.   Im just rejoining this champioship :)   From what I read on the rules, to enter I just need to post the score and identify what path I want to follow - which is Advanced Lead   BTW Tom Petty

  • Not going to level up. I only won because Angelina and Telboy went AWOL and Rodman had no time to play :P

Really loving the songs this week, super hard but besides liking the songs in general. I personally find it to be more fun when it's difficult to play a riff instead of just stressing over not missing

I agree with stark_knight, I think the MC class song is harder even though my score currently does not reflect this.

I've been too lazy to tune down to Eb to play the masterclass song. I'll get to it soon enough. I'm enjoying these songs though. I think I can make it through SA on the gog song with a little work. We shall see...

This is enjoyable. I do wish I could do those pinch harmonics!

It's hard to learn pinch harmonics since it requires a lot of trial and error, took me a while to learn as well. One thing that might help is that like natural harmonics, pinch harmonics are location sensitive so try moving up and down the string until you find an area that works. That was a problem for me when I started trying to learn how to do it because I was picking in the wrong spot so I could never get it to work.

I can do them like half the time when practicing, or at least I think I do. I don't get the loud evil screetch out of them, but it's definitely a higher pitch noise. Doing a pinch harmonic on a stationary string while practicing is one thing, but doing them in a riff at a random place is a whole another level. I'm thinking it "okay, pinch harmonic coming soon, tilt your arm position to make it possible" and then I drop the pick and the house lights on fire. Every time.

@@meelo I feel you, I had a hard time mastering it myself; overthinking will definitely through you off. A lot of tutorials I've seen say you should "scoop" your pick but that never really worked for me. I don't even move my hand much when doing it, instead I kind of pick the string like normal but let my thumb scrape the string. Try holding your pick where your thumb is as close as possible to the tip of it without hitting the string while playing normally. Should help you be more consistent when playing. You can also try playing Cemetery Gates, that was the song that helped me learn pinch harmonics since the notes in that song that use pinch harmonics are easier to get a result.

BTW Tom Petty's song is really, I'm having really good fun playing that solo. What a workshop for blues/rock pentatonic soloing with lots of bends and vibrato!

Welcome back! Yeah, that'll do. You are not limited to just one path though, you can also assign a difficulty level for rhythm and bass if you want to play those paths as well and compete in their respective leagues. Most of us tend to play through all difficulties and paths each week.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, not enough time this week to work harder these songs. The Supercell's one seems to be so much difficult for me i agree...

Here are my scores:

The image site I use is again down.... sooooo ...... https://imgur.com/a/DalXEnX Lead + Rhythm Tom Petty.

Also I'm really struggling with the sight reading on  Feel so good, the camera angle shows the whole neck of the guitar, making an already difficult advance song even more difficult. Nor am I enjoying playing any of this weeks selection of songs. Pretty poor choices in my opinion.

I am so done with this song. That bass solo is just too ridiculous. It has a freaking full step bend in there! ON A BASS!

http://u.meelo.org/.rocksmith/week266/bass/a01.png

~89.5 % accuracy happened between these two

http://u.meelo.org/.rocksmith/week266/bass/a03.png
http://u.meelo.org/.rocksmith/week266/bass/a04.png

One more full run at 92 % speed and 96 % speed and back to SA.
http://u.meelo.org/.rocksmith/week266/bass/a05.png

MC has nice main riff. That crazy thing in the middle is something I don't want to try and learn at the moment.

http://u.meelo.org/.rocksmith/week266/bass/m02.png

This I can push to 100 %. But I said the same thing about the lead.

well i managed to download the songs and had a few minutes to run through an old favourite...

i think i got 100% on the Rhythm last time........I wish i had done the SA this time cos it sounded pretty good considering

tiivfav78bszz6f6g.jpg

and i think i got into the 80's on Lead last time, so i'm pretty sure this is an improvement straight away

looking forward to the weekend to have a proper go

One more update. I went from E12th/B15th fret unison bend to B17/G19 unison bends, as those are easier. Think I'll see if I can move most of the heavy lifting to that general region.

Annoyingly game didn't recognise one of the notes somewhere in the main riff and streak is bad :P

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEW ADV RHY SONG: (The other one was a 6-string bass arrangement)

Advanced:  Nightwish-Master Passion Greed (6)

Lead we played week 240, noe it´s rhy time!

6 string bass? Custom tuning? Wanker Prog Rawk?  Prepare for the most tasteless Freebird post EVAR.

"Like a bird on the wire, Like a drunk in a midnight choir, I have tried in my own way to be free" Leonard Cohen - RIP

Peek inside 2groggy's basement FreeBird Laboratory (not for the faint of heart)

Tobias Bass VI      SG shaped Bass VI     Hollow Acoustic Thunderbird 5     Hollow Archtop Bass VI

Harlequin Hollow Archtop Bass     Hollow Toby Bass VI     Starcaster Bass     A trio of hollow archtops (new)

Tried downtuning my fat stinged guitar to a#, but the song wanted me to go another octave lower.   Played it anyway.

Welcome%20to%20mercy%20falls%20Rhythm%20

@@MaZtoR - That valiant attempt at a tasteless goal deserves a FreeBird salute.  There actually isn't one.  Will you settle for the secret FreeBird handshake?  There isn't one of those either.  All I can say is "Watch your back.  The FreeBird Police are everywhere."

However, I cannot let such a courageous act of FreeBirdness stand undefended... so I will give the FreeBird police a bigger target:

  • Welcome to Mercy Falls Rhythm track played on Bass VI
  • Custom tuning (I had to down tune so far that the strings were as floppy as an elephant's ear)
  • sight read (never heard the song, zero attempts at RR)
  • one attempt only
  • all taps, hammer-ons and other wankery legato replaced by random noise

74%  I believe that I was saved by all of the open string notes

Take THAT FreeBird Police

I hated Royal Republic prev. time. I hate it this time too.

UPD: OK. I hate every song. I guess I need to stop.

AHHHHHH!

I'm stuck at 85% speed. This song is definitly too difficult for me (i don't even try the bass solo).

Didn't know that band, but i sure will listen to some other songs of them now. Also, will need to work on that one.

And I also tried Ne Obliviscaris on bass, beacause i wanted to. And of course there was a taping part in there.

This song is really cool. Sounds like Dream Theater. I won't have much time this week to improve my score however.
