Steam not working on Mac OS 10.7.5

I'm still (yes, I know) on OS 10.7.5, and since yesterday, Steam won't run.  I have tried numerous uninstalls/re-installs, but it's still not working.

I've found nothing online regarding the problem, apart from this:

Steam was certainly working on Wednesday... Have they dropped support for OS 10.7.5, without saying anything, again?

@@missis sumner You probably have no choice but to update to El Capitan, or even Sierra, but don't update anything higher than Sierra. If you do update, check to see of your RSToolkitWine still works.

Well, that was relatively painless - the update to El Capitan, I mean.  It hasn't touched my partitioned Windows drive, and I don't appear to have lost any files.

Just got to get Steam and Rocksmith, and of course, my toolkit working now...  will report back later.  :)

Got Steam and Rocksmith working - I had to re-run the patch, that's all.  Will play a little and report back when I need to use the Toolkit. :)

Rocksmith runs on High Sierra in Windowed Mode, but you have no mouse click. Maybe there's a rule that it is not allowed to fix this :D

...  I don't know why every update of an OS has to break so many applications, the Mojave version could possibly break a lot of them and we might have to click security dialogs like vista user had to do.

Just reporting back that my Toolkit is working fine - I've not had to update anything.

Seriously considering going for Sierra, whilst I'm all backed up...
