23rd/24th fret notes and RS Remastered

So, the Remastered version changed something about how notes beyond the 22nd fret are handled. They seem to be automatically ignored, but unless they are also marked as 'ignore', accuracy will not equal mastery.

Not sure if this needs to be handled in EOF or the Toolkit, but something should probably be done about it.

@@iminashi Even before the remaster, note above 22 were ignored automatically to account for the fact that not all user have 24 fret guitars.

Overall i doubt there's any situation that really needs an ignore status unless you are charting something that can't be played but that also means that RS can't display it properly either which makes me think it shouldn't be in the chart anyway.

If I remember right, Nemesis by Arch Enemy has 23 frets on it.

I didn't noticed any ignores above 22 frets yet,so I might check it out.

My Customs

The reasons why most of my customs are not updated yet:

1.)I'm lazy to do it because I have no motivation for it

2.)I'm not at my computer

3.)I'm working on a song that I haven't made it yet

4.)I don't have any song to work on it

Painkiller also have 23/24 fret note and they are all ignored by the game, it has been the case since RS2014 was out so i'm not sure what's the problem here.

Either it's the ignore status that isn't correctly implemented on CDLC but that's mostly a Toolkit issue and not related to the indication on EOF or it's because you want 23/24 fret note to automatically have the ignore status but i'm pretty sure that's actually not needed for the note to be ignored by the game (though some testing would allow us to be sure about it).

In "Painkiller" all those notes have the ignore status.

The notes are completely ignored all right, the crux of the problem is this:

Unless they are also marked as 'ignore', accuracy will not equal mastery.

Which was not the case before Remastered.

I've made a test case that has half notes <22nd fret and half notes >22nd fret, without the ignore status. Hitting all of the notes (though you only have to hit half of them) gives you 100% accuracy and 50% mastery.

Personally I don't see what would be the downside of that.

I just want to make sure it doesn't cause any other problems.

I agree with both of you! :D

I didn't even know this was an issue until Imi told me personally. This seems like the sort of thing that should be in the red banner up top! LOL :D

But hey I'm a charter, everything charty seems mission critical to me!

Edit: I thought this thread was older than it is....looks like this is a new discovery.

I'd been more or less waiting for any other feedback from authors/developers, but since nobody brought up any concerns, I'll make that change.

I was just thinking the other day that I knew there was something broken and weird with ignores, but I couldn't remember what.

So this issue aside, there is no problem with using ignores (in relation to them messing up scores or the percentage when completing the song)?

Sure thing we should get rid of extra steps to produce valuable product more easily, still I think this is nice to have finally, but hey how many of this kind of todo we've got over the forum pages? :)

One thing what I find weird about ignores is that the game won't display "miss" but may display "late".

Hopefully all the bugs with ignore are fixed. The issue where any ignores you would cause wrong mastery was fixed a long time ago and a while back, I fixed another bug that had to do with calculating the total notes in a song, but I don't know if that one actually caused any problems in practice. In any case it should match ODLC now so any possible updates to the game shouldn't break things either.
