How Do I Import MIDI Files into EOF?

Noob gaming

Dumb question?

Nononono.

You dumb.

I'm not kidding, why the hell is there a MIDI import option on EOF if it doesn't even work?

So I wasted an hour rewriting a guitar tab in TuxGuitar, and it never worked after exporting to MIDI.

Someone explain what I'm doing wrong?

(I have Distortion Guitar as my setting in Tux Guitar, and I have exported it to a MIDI, but I can't import to EOF because the notes don't appear)

If anyone can help me, please do.

I'd appreciate it.

And no, I can not use Guitar Pro...

unless you want to give me the stupid full version, go ahead, I'd be happy with that.

Jesus... who can get that on a budget of £5 a month?

Tux guitar works just fine for what we are doing. The only thing I have found that it can't do ( and perhaps this is user error) is convert a gpx file to gp5 . And there are online converters for that.

The midi import in EOF is probably only for midi files from guitar hero and rockband.

That's pretty much the case. Rhythm games (Frets on Fire, FoFiX, Phase Shift, Rock Band, PowerGig, etc) that use MIDI files use a specialised format where MIDI notes reflect the timing of note gems, which lane (not musical note) they are on and how they are played. If you're ever in doubt, EOF has a very thorough manual (accessible in the Help menu or in EOF's program folder) that describes all menu functions. There are also tutorials, which aren't Rocksmith specific but give a decent explanation for authoring vocals and guitar/bass arrangements.

There is a Tuxguitar version that can converter gpx to gp5, i think in one of the tutorials about how to create a custom does have a link to it.

A couple easy ways to convert to gp5 from different types of files:

Online converter for gpx, ptb, midi, etc (nothing to download or install):  http://www.webtabplayer.com/

Directions for using Tuxguitar (needs a small free add-on but very easy): http://www.wikihow.c...-Tuxguitar-1.2)

I've heard reports that webtabplayer.com can produce errors in conversions, but I haven't had any yet.

Guitar Pro have an option to convert .gpx to .gp5 or .gp3 from v.6.1.5 or later. In this way the convertion doesn't lose anything of the original.

Online converters are very good too, but sometimes have problems on tempo, time of note, key and techniques.

Tuxguitar have an add-on to convert, but you need to download it.
